ACADEMY OF ONCOLOGY NURSE NAVIGATORS® Announces Trisha Sullivan as Executive Director
Cranbury, New Jersey, September 16, 2013—The Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators (AONN) is pleased to announce that Trisha Sullivan has been named as its Executive Director. In this role, Ms. Sullivan will be responsible for the day-to-day direction of AONN’s activities, as well as driving key initiatives to advance AONN’s mission.
Ms. Sullivan is extremely pleased to have been named Executive Director, as she says, “I look forward to growing with AONN and to serving the oncology nurse navigator community with the educational support it needs to amend and enhance cancer patients’ overall comprehensive care.” Ms. Sullivan has been involved in improving the care of patients for the past 15 years through educational, industry, and nonprofit initiatives and is a melanoma cancer survivor.
Ms. Sullivan joins Lillie Shockney, Program Director of AONN, in leading and growing AONN as the primary organization for navigation and survivorship in oncology.

Her addition to the organization strengthens our position to serve as the leader for education, networking and supporting oncology navigators to achieve their professional goals while delivering patient-centered care,” states Lillie Shockney. She continued to say, “I look forward to working closely with Trisha to continue to grow AONN and provide an invaluable resource to our members.”
About the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators® (AONN)
AONN is the largest national specialty organization dedicated to improving patient care and quality of life by defining, enhancing, and promoting the role of oncology nurse and patient navigators. Our organization of over 4,000 members was founded in May 2009 to provide a network for all professionals involved and interested in patient navigation and survivorship care services to better manage the complexities of the cancer care treatment continuum for their patients. We view our organization as one consisting of “professional patient advocates” and, to that end, we support and serve our members.
About the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship® (JONS)
JONS is the official publication of AONN. JONS promotes reliance on evidence-based practices in navigating patients with cancer and their caregivers through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. JONS also seeks to strengthen the role of nurse and patient navigators in cancer care by serving as a platform for these professionals to disseminate original research findings, exchange best practices, and find support for their growing community.
